This is another one of those films that is shown every christmas on TV. It was made the year directly after Scrooged and seriously..... they don't make them like they used to. You'd be hard pressed to find as good an christmas film as this as you would be to find a decent comedy film. It's got classic comedy writen all over it.

In the 90's National Lampoon films became the same as what American Pie films did in the 00's. They had a few good hits and then the actors and writers who made the films good moved on to other stuff but the high ups wanted to make money off the name and it turned the brand into a bit of a joke.... HOWEVER what made the brand good is this film

There's like 3 or 4 films in the sequence... i forget the order but it's something like

National Lampoons Vacation
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
National Lampoons European Vacation
National Lampoons Las Vagas Vacation

Order doesn't matter, i would recormend watching them all, Las Vagas one to a lesser extent though.

The Christmas Vacation is the one i'm talking about thou :D

Chevey Chase plays Clark Griswald who is an average family man and wants to have the perfect christmas vacation at home surrounded by family, however as the film progresses it's one failure after another, then things get worse and worse until Clark snaps

This could easily be a load of sketch comedy scenes but they are done on a bigger scale and all flow perfectly along together and show why he gets sooo pissed off at the end, but also the turn around again to make it into one big happy film. It would be so easy to make him get annoyed and annoyed all through the film and to visually show it to try and make you feel for him but that would just make you annoyed watching it because none of the other characters would see it, however he's always putting on a brave face and trying to have fun which shows the spirit of christmas really, in that no matter what the rest of the year holds, you want to enjoy yourself now and recharge yourself.

This is another family film where there is enough for adults to enjoy and enough slapstick humour for kids to enjoy even if they don't understand the situations. Like i say, they don't make them like they used to... you couldn't make a film like this any more.
